Not really.

Controlled and regulated markets where government-backed currency is used and the markets themselves are not only tightly regulated, but rife with government intervention and incentives have produced far better results than other systems.

Market-based economies work better than command economies, but the "free market" has never really existed ... other than maybe in the black market, the Wild West, or some post-apocalyptic hellscape.
