No. Here's the difference . . .

The statues in question honor men who tried to subvert the results of an election with guns -- the antithesis of a Republican form of government. You know, "of the people, by the people, for the people." This was always the heart of the American experiment.

That the fulcrum of the rebellion was the defense of slavery made it all the more heinous.
