I still own Confederate Battle Flags. They are up in my garage room.
Some of them were bequeathed to me by my late Father-in-Law. He was a staunch Liberal all of his
life, born and raised in North Carolina before his
family ultimately settled in Charlottesville. He and I both are descendants of men who fought for the South in the Civil War. We both lived in Charlottesville, but I actually met my wife at a house party of a mutual friend about 2 blocks from Monument Ave in Richmond. For me, personally, this is a more complex issue than for a lot of others. I get all that. Civil discourse does have to reign supreme over the sub-human degenerates that showed up in Cville this past weekend. Will it, ultimately? Maybe not and if that is the case I will adjust. That statue coming down will not ultimately change any tangible thing in my life.
