This is why so many Americans essentially want a dictator or at best

a disruptor (of course it's laughable that you thought that would be a con artist with bad hair).

Democracy is incredibly difficult. But your post -- one in absolutes and hyperbole -- exemplifies why. You call this abomination of a proposed bill a tiny spot of polish on a turd. I would call it a dump on the floor of a public restroom. But the fact remains, only a real fool would think someone can just snap his/her fingers and redo the healthcare system. Marginal improvements, compromise, and bettering what we have incrementally aren't sexy but that's the only way forward. Yelling "trash it all! Hit the reset button!" is completely non-constructive and lazy .... but basically where we are today politically. That and the fact that half the country vehemently disagrees with the other half means nothing constructive will ever be accomplished.

What should happen -- and would happen if the GOP gave even a smidge of a fuck about the people -- would be to take ObamaCare and improve the parts of it that don't work. That would better our healthcare system. But that would be admitting the Dems did something positive, and making something with Obama's name on it have a lasting legacy. Can't have that! Instead let's just pass more incendiary bullshit designed to fuck over poor people and screw blue states so we can say we did, knowing damn well it's not a real idea with any chance at becoming a constructive law or improvement. Awesome.

And that's where we are in 2017.
