WRT CT swamp has nothing to do with poor (areas) and everything to
do with how a state feeds the beast. You could start with those vastly underfunded gold-plated pensions Conn spoke of. Other people's money and long gone when the chit hits the fan is a good way for a pol to gain popularity. I just find it hysterical when one of the wealthiest states paying high taxes is bitching about the services they get for that, and wants to continue getting that subsidized by lower tax paying states. Take it up with your own state capital.
As for your comments about not being even close to reform, you get no argument from me. I'm a big proponent of the KISS model. But is it better for our country's direction than what we have now? That would be a solid yes IMO. Could it have been better with more time and thought? Of course it could. But as for the criticisms about not being bi-partisan (not by you here), that's laughable at best. There has yet to be one single vote by a Dem on this bill, and they were participants in the committees. There is zero intention by the Dems to be anywhere close to bi-partisan.
As for the Govco estimates, I think they will end up being way overstated thanks to growth. Time will tell for sure. My biggest beef with the GOP is that the 150B it adds to the deficit per year is not being offset even remotely on the spending side. We have a spending problem, and the fiscal conservatives aren't doing chit to address that.
