Think about it. What's the cause and what's the effect?
There really aren't blue and red states anymore. Urban is blue and rural is red. Suburbia is purple, but because Trump is all about sound bites and no depth of thought, the already existing education gap is being exacerbated by the populism. and because Trump's populism includes so much divisiveness minority voters of all stripes are driven bluer.
So the real point is many many more taxpayers in these blue areas are in the top tax brackets than in the red. And for those in the red, their SALT is much lower. So are the services. And the federal govt helps subsidize the gap. Which the high bracket red taxpayer gets free of charge. The high bracket blue guy pays his higher SALT and the needy in his state therefore get fewer federal subsidies. The states and localities provide them.
And on whole the red areas benefit bigly from the higher overall tax collections from blue areas. They'll just no longer get the break for the local services they shoulder - entirely - on their own.
What makes blue areas wealthier? NY, CT, NJ, MA, CA have been blue for decades. Highest SALT in the country. Yet they keep getting richer, and the poor keep getting poorer. States that stubbornly cling to last century's economy keep asking for more. Basically, they ask for the clock to be turned back. Trump falsely promises that, and they eat it up.
Where exactly did you say the swamp was?
