It doesn't work perfectly everywhere, no. But in general blue states that
invest in their own infrastructure have citizens who are better off than red states who don't. That's a fact.
Would add that the old stereotypes about "the cities" are proving false. There are some outliers, but most cities have seen dramatic increases in quality of life and improvement in public schools, health, poverty, etc. in the last 20-30 years while conservative rural areas have further declined.
That is part of the reason why Trump got elected -- the "two Americas" narrative about urban/suburban vs. rural and small town. One had been doing rather well and the other has not, and obsessing about every time there was a shooting in Chicago is just a coping mechanism for people in sad places that aren't going anywhere to point their fingers down at black folks. That's all the "Chicago welfare queen" and "Chicago gang violence" narrative really is for the average Faux News viewer, tbh.
