show loophole" is a bit of a myth used by the left to scare people to think anyone can just go up to a local gun show or jump on web and order any gun they want. What it should be called is a private sale exemption where you can buy in a parking lot, be it at a gun show or the local WalMart and purchase a gun without a background check assuming the seller is willing to risk breaking the law to do so. That's part of my point, since we've already seen many examples of where laws prohibiting "straw purchases" have proven to be relatively ineffective.

I (and I believe Matt is too) am advocating that all gun sales, including private sales, should require going through a background check. And not the foolishness Obama proposed where you would have to set yourself up as a "dealer" in order to sell your guns, but rather the existing framework where you can pay a licensed dealer a small fee to do the background check, or even a Gov't established system via ATF where private sellers and buyers could do this. Additionally I'm suggesting that there should be tighter restrictions (mental health issues, domestic abuse issues, other violent history, etc.) on hoo can pass that background check, and better reporting by states and other agencies to make sure so many folks don't continue managing to fall through the cracks.
