I think you're assuming dealers would be willing and able to buy all

those guns. I don't think that's a valid assumption, by any stretch. I know in my business there were things I wouldn't have dreamed of selling "used" for liability reasons, and that wasn't anything near as dangerous as a gun.

And I can see where Hooda Q Public might want to sell a gun to Hool Doe because he got if from Grandpa's estate, no longer needs it, no longer hunts, etc. So I don't see any problem with that as long as we go to a dealer, or via an ATF system, pay a small fee, and ensure you're legally able to buy that by passing a background check. We could do that right now by walking into any gun shop, but it's not required. It should be.

BTW my comment about Obama's foolishness was because he proposed that Hooda would have to establish himself as a dealer, with all the hopefully absurd levels of paperwork, investigation, and reporting to do so, rather than simply requiring existing dealers to provide this service for a fee, or better yet, setting up a simple and cheap way to do so via the ATF. If you make it so ridiculously cumbersome to do so, you are only incentivizing Hooda to say "F it, it's one gun I got from Grandpappy, I'll take my chances and just sell it to this guy I trust." Why make it difficult, and encourage folks to break the law, when it could be handled in such a simpler, less "foolish" way? That to me screamed someone that either didn't have the slightest clue what setting up to be a dealer meant, or just wanted to be able to say "look, the GOP is resisting common sense gun laws" rather than get to a solution.
