Looks like someone completely missed the point.

Which is not that liberals loved Reagan -- they most certainly did not. It's more that they remember a time when the "bad guy" was just someone who took being pro-business and pro-supply-side to the extreme and played the macho "law and order" and "strong national defense" roles, but also had a humanitarian side, was willing to compromise, and surrounded himself with people who actually were educated policy types and cared about the issues.

Today's GOP is an idiocratic white trashionalist party that has finally just thrown off the veneer of conservatism. They are fine being openly cozy with white supremacists, trade protectionists, the most extreme gun nuts and anti-immigrant types, etc. and don't even pretend to be a "values" party that wants to let the free market do its thing any more. There is no reasoning with them because the morons and clowns are running the show, and Pro Wrestling fans who care even less about people or substantive issues (and vote for them just because they think it's AWESUMM to hear someone troll that uppity niece or nephew to tears) are their base.

It's more or less just remembering what it was like when we were worried about someone like Mitt Romney or Ronald Reagan running the country now that you buffoons have a bona fide trashionalist in power.
