Republicans playing the refs like Coach K

October 2016:

The FBI is conducting two investigations. One on Hillary Clinton’s emails. One on Trump’s connections with Russia.

The FBI director has been accused of being biased by Republicans due to his summer decision not to prosecute Hillary Clinton. This is a daily talking point on conservative media.

This criticism affects him because he does not want the FBI to be seen as political. Thus he decides to publically reopen the investigation on the Democrat in October lest he be accused of being biased towards her, but for the Republican candidate he writes in an email that “the window has closed for an official statement” because the election was so close.

Thus due to Republicans playing the refs, the FBI made a decision that undoubtedly helped them. Their accusations of bias actually resulted in an action that was biased towards them.

The funny thing is all of this is stil not enough and there are still accusations that the FBI is biased. They are still playing the refs because they know it will pay off both politically for them in ruling up their base, and because it will substantively affect the decisions of those who they are attacking.

You see this with the media as well. Not wanting to be seen as biased, media members refuse to say Trump is lying.

Anyways Republicans are just as good as playing the refs as Coach K and it pays off for both of them.
