Actually it's not as he pulled that number out of his arse, or at best
didn't support it. But I wasn't even disputing the factual basis of his number, (even though this new pipeline, the reason for Trump's comments, will make it even more) just that the % he used was irrelevant to the point Trump was making, and his use of it was simply motivated by his desire to exaggerate the appearance that "Trump lied". Lies, damn lies, and statistics.
As for Trump's fact, if he said it the way he should have, one of the articles posted said the current pipeline can provide 2/3's of their Nat Gas needs. And that this new pipeline will double that capacity. Considering they were already importing over 90% of their Nat Gas in '16, Russia is already their biggest source, are taking Nuclear off line, and are shutting down coal plants to try and meet Paris Agreement targets, you're right, it may have been a lie. Trump may have vastly understated what % of their Nat Gas will come from Russia with the completion of this pipeline.
