Ouch Tom, i think you don't have a clue what you just argued. shocking
once again, we chose to spend about 4%. there is no requirement for 4%
the US just spends more than anyone else on its military. there is a requirement, only decided upon in 2006, for a 2% of GDP on defense for all NATO countries. i made no argument that we should be spending what we do; but, expecting every country to come to our level is irrational. expecting every country to spend 2% makes sense. and that is what we should be lobbying for if countries want to stay in NATO.
by the way, you do understand that this is not money being given to NATO right? its money each country spends on its own military. outside of the NATO requirement, who are we to tell any country how to spend their money? do you think anyone should be able to tell the US how much it should spend on anything, much less its military?
but your answer is to SLASH WHAT WE SPEND ON OUR MILITARY?
i'm guessing you have no idea what your argument is. reading comprehension is your friend
