You seem to be arguing a different point. You're arguing against bail

period for certain accused. If under the new law, judges are not able to determine a person accused of a violent crime is a threat and should not be released, then I disagree with that aspect of the law. I don't think that's the case though as I don't believe this law applies to violent crimes. But if an accused person is believed to be a threat, he should not be released period. The cash vs. no cash seems to be irrelevant.. at least to me.

If someone can link a study showing people released on cash bail are less likely to commit another crime compared people released on their own recognizance, I'll change my position. I think there is no doubt people released on cash bail are more likely to show up for their court appearance, which is why I would support a "1 strike" policy. You get released on your on recognizance for NON VIOLENT offenses, but as soon as you no show your court appearance, you're back on cash bail permanently for any future offenses.
