I honestly don't understand why they are planting their flag on this position that will make most sane voters say "huh?", other than to curry favor and votes from criminals and those sympathetic to criminals. It defies all logic and common sense.

And perhaps the best way to avoid those no shows, and the costs associated with tracking them down and the stiffer penalties that come with that no show, is to make sure they still have some "skin in the game" to make sure they don't no show in the first place.
