Well it's far from my biggest issue, but I don't think the mere idea of

not keeping poor people in jail while they await trial while we let rich people out is a terrible idea.

Sounds like the bill is overreaching in that it allows the release of violent criminals, takes away discretion from judges in determining whether an accused poses a threat, and allows repeated no shows. I don't support any of that. But I would support a bill in which people accused of non violent crimes are released on their own recognizance with the stipulation that once you abuse that privilege ONE time, you are on cash bail only for all future arrests... AND... you spend some time in jail for contempt of court for failure to show.
