I get that, but do the prisons themselves have any control over how many

"customers" they get? (setting aside the criminal scenarios where judges were being paid off or benefitting as investors of course) They don't convict anyone or control hoo and how harshly they are. I guess there's some valid concern to what someone brought up about profit driven prisons wanting to keep prisoners longer, or wanting higher recidivism, but again they have very little control over parole or releasing anyone, and as far as future business, I doubt they have to worry too much about future "occupancy rates".

Don't get me wrong, if "private prisons" are indeed the "evil" they are portrayed as (I haven't seen that, actually somewhat the opposite but I took that with a healthy grain of salt), I'll be the first to applaud Biden for this move. But if the facts don't support this, and it's just checking a talking point box to appease a segment of the base, while possibly leading to more cost and worse conditions, then that's obviously not a good thing.
