Here's the actual text of the bill


My read is that it codifies the Roe v Wade viability standard while placing limits on the types of tests that a patient has to undergo before having an abortion and rules that abortion providers have to follow. States have enacted those tests as ways to try to dissuade women from having an abortion and the rules to make it harder to provide abortions. That used to be the kind of stuff the Supreme Court considered under the "undue burden" standard. Collins claimed that the law would force religiously-affiliated hospitals to provide abortions, but Schumer said that was false and I don't see anything in the text to say otherwise. I would offer the same bill without the language on the tests and rules after this one gets voted down, but that will get voted down too.
