At what point do we say enough is enough?


NPR did a story this morning on opioid addiction and heart surgeries (linked below). I realize that this is a story about medical ethics but at some point we will need to choose. Does an opioid addict that continues to use, get as many heart value replacements as they need or do we as some point shift that substantial investment to treating others? We could choose to use some of that money for example to expand neonatal Intensive care.
