Most school doors I've ever come across ...

...open just fine from the inside when they are locked from the outside. AFAIK most schools lock all but main entrance doors during the school day.

That's fine to keep out strangers, but when the shooter is a student they'll be able to gain entry easily enough. They just hit the buzzer and announce "Hi, this is Joe Blow in Mrs. Smith's 10th grade homeroom. I'm late today, could you let me in please?"
