I don't care what the 2A was intended to protect. I think we should amend

the constitution, but understand that is highly unlikely. I'm just referencing what I think are legitimate reasons for owning a gun... hunting and home protection. Oh yeah, and mowing down feral hogs. I always forget that one.

Protecting against a tyrannical government MAY have been the intent of the 2A at the time, but that's a joke of a reason now given the massively overwhelming and destructive firepower the military possesses even compared to the most effective, deadliest weapons that individual citizens can own. If you want to protect against a tyrannical gov't, you'd better have the military on your side, because a bunch of yahoos, even well organized yahoos, with AR-15s, camo, and tac vision glasses, aren't going to last long against the military.
