But fixing our roads is good for the people.

We can get started on that tomorrow.

Are the people not getting the free child care progressives contemplate better off with crumbling roads and bridges too?

There’s a lot of brinksmanship going on, and amazingly, I have no idea if we will come together and get some of these bills passed, raise the debt limit to pay for what we’ve already bought, or just dive head first over the cliff. I think a lot of folks in DC would prefer diving over the cliff, as long as they can stick their tongues out at their political enemies during the plunge.

If we do ultimately get things done, I will take a different view of the brinksmanship, which in more normal times, is just part of the process. But I used to have much more confidence that we won’t just go ahead of dive over the brink.
