Don't disagree on your points on infrastructure at all. But yes, sometimes

nothing is better than further damage. Not saying that applies to this infrastructure bill, but in general nothing can be better. I'm sure many lefties still delude themselves into believing nothing would've been better than the Trump tax cuts for example.

As for your other point, Dems aren't asking to avoid "failing to pay for the shit you've already bought". They are asking for a blank check with no limits to pay for anything they can ram through between now and the end of 2022. That is their choice to push for that, and I'm sure they hope to use that to "buy" as many votes as possible for the midterms, but they shouldn't expect a single GOPer to agree with that, and if it crashes, that is entirely on those Dems for pushing for that rather than just avoiding "failing to pay for the shit you've already bought".
