The infrastructure projects are way down the road

Nobody is going to notice it next summer. Dems weren’t elected for a better highway bill.

If they fail to deliver on their bigger promises of better childcare, elder care, affordable college, climate change, prescription drug benefits, Medicare improvements, then they are fucked.

Improved infrastructure is fine. But it would cost Dems in elections. Moderates will all get swept out in a red wave. And in their place will be progressives further to the left.

The reconciliation will help all Dems across the board. It’s popular. It’s not like they are jamming through unpopular policies. These are popular things that will help people immediately(unlike infrastructure).

The infrastructure bill was agreed to because there was a promise that reconciliation would coincide with it. Sinema and Manchin are breaking that promise. If they want to been as moderate deal makers, then progressives need to vote no until Sinema and Manchin clarify what they want from reconciliation.

If progressives vote yes on infrastructure without reconciliation, reconciliation will never pass in a manner that would be helpful to Dems. They need the reconciliation deal that Sinema and Manchin promised.
