supported the allegation that the officer had been assaulted. The whole "hands up, don't shoot" was a complete fabrication. In the SC case not only was the guy running shot in the back but the cop planted evidence, didn't apply or call for first aid and then lied about it.

I also whole heartedly agree that a lot of over testosteroned, "weak man's idea of a strong man", meatheads that get off on power an control are cops. There should be much better psychological profiling of cops. And yes, CC should not be allowed anywhere near a badge, not even as crossing guard.

The one part I'm not sure about is the issue of black vs white police interactions. I think the disparity is not as great as people allege in terms of shooting per population of each race but simply looking at something like shootings per police interaction paints only half the picture. If blacks in predominately white neighborhoods are stopped for no reason, if they are harassed for minor nuisances, etc. That inflates the number of stops for no good reason and reduces that ratio. Also, averaging in shootings per interaction in Montpelier VT or in Idaho with those in East St Louis gives bogus results. Analyses should be done where the shootings are. I would love to see that data.

I think there is a great deal of "us vs them", good guys vs bad guys, among cops. I think that class or culture disparity or whatever you want to call skews to increased shootings of blacks but I don't think it fully explains the data though.
