What's this?

Kinda a little of both. The farming is obviously very seasonal during

the summer when school is out. I can drive 3 hours in the morning and afternoon, have my mid day free to work on the orchard in the spring. Thankfully my son and a couple of employees do most of hard work and I just use my tractor or fix stuff they break.

The bus pay isn’t great and thankfully I don’t really need that income but the insurance benefits are awesome. Probably saves me 15k a year in premiums. Plus I drive in the next county over with a lot of poor and lower middle class kids and I like being somewhat of a positive male figure in their lives when many don’t have that.

If you do retire just use all that time with your wife. Just find a little time for yourself every once in a while.
