At the time Deutsche issued Trump Org's bonds ...

they were making a huge attempt to break into the US market. They were hiring for their downton US HQ non stop. A couple of my buddies ended up at their many prop desks. It was my impression that Germany thought the "Trump brand" would give Deutsche the well needed publicity (I could be wrong). It was a weird marketing strategy if it was the case.

You seem to know much more how accounting firms operate. How liable Mazars for Trump ... if at all? Are they completely beholden to the financials the Trump Org gives them?

The great sell side analysts check the numbers (highlight anomalies) ... but that's not the rule. Certainly, the investment bankers assume the company's past financials are accurate and consistent.
