It is most definitely a mixed bag and economists generally disagree on some


aspects of unemployment. One thing is clear though; a higher minimum generally results in higher unemployment or sometimes lower take home for unskilled labor at the cusp. The city of Seattle has a $15 minimum wage, for example, and in 2018 that resulted in that labor pool losing $125/month. On the other hand, the state of Washington has had the highest rate of job growth in the country the last couple of years, so there are definitely multiple factors.

I don't mind if the D's advocate for a minimum wage because I think generally it results in greater purchasing power and more job growth, but I also think it might be an anachronistic concept. They should advocate more for UBI. I think that's where we're headed with automation.
