I'm a much bigger fan of the EITC than UBI.

I haven't seen any indication that you could fund the UBI at a level anywhere near what it would take to be viable for people. Certainly not at the level of social security. A far bigger issue is lack of low-income housing. It is too expensive to be a poor person in most of the places where there are jobs.
