Of course there's good evidence that employers will pay employers as little


as they can get away with. And yet employers pay 99% employees above the minimum wage without any federal intervention. So why exactly is intervention needed? If employers pay as little as they can get away with and the federal gov't says you can legally get away with 7.25 / hour and less than 1% of employers pay their employees $7.25 an hour, doesn't that tell you the gov't doesn't need to intervene. It seems like the market did a perfectly good job intervening for more than 99% of employees.
