Sure. But automation requires investment. The cost of automation


will also come down over time causing jobs to be automated in the future that it doesn't make sense to automate now. But raising the cost of labor can also change the equation and cause an investment in automation that previously didn't make financial sense to suddenly become a viable investment.

There's a market clearing price for labor. The fact that less than 1% of the US makes the minimum wage tells you that businesses don't hold disproportionate power over employees when it comes to setting wages (if they did, far more people would make exactly the minimum wage). I don't know why we'd want to make the lowest skilled, most vulnerable employees suddenly more expensive for employers.
