It isn't racist to propose that years of slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, and racism combine to place Blacks at a disadvantage, and to propose policy to address that. I emphasize that does not mean you have to agree with any of it. But it isn't racist (she quoted a stat in her proposal - for every $100 of wealth that white families have, blacks have $1). It's progressive, but this isn't like charging different ticket prices to an arts fair based on race. That's purely racist.

There are so many levels on which I don't like Kamala's idea, from the very broad outlines I know. First of all, I wonder if such a thing is even constitutional. Courts have been less and less friendly to racial preferences, even with the best of intentions. I don't agree with your racist label, but that doesn't mean I'm a fan of racial quotas as a way to redress inequities. Affirmative Action really can't be held out as having "worked", if Kamala's stats are right. Second, it's a continuation of this age old, IMO deeply misguided belief that one needs to own a home to be prosperous. Not many people are buying a house for $25k, so she is creating incentives for people to take on debt. Probably lots of it. My guess - the negative unintended consequences of this would be enormous. I think Kamala would be encouraging people to take on debt they have no business bearing. Especially when housing prices inevitably decline, which they can be counted on to do. And one more - how do we expect to implement this? How "black" do you have to be? Would Obama qualify? How about if I have one black grandparent?

I personally think it is not well thought out and is merely fodder for the progressives in the primaries. You don't have to peel the onion too far to get to roadblocks on this proposal.
