Of course the gender pay gap exists its just mostly explained by

a) hours worked (women tend to work part time more than men)
b) career choices (more women are teachers than men, and more men are engineers than women and news flash, engineers make more than teachers)
c) self selection. Once we had kids, my wife wanted out of the rat race and wanted more of a work life balance. So did I, but my wife's career scale back and eventual "retirement" was far more pronounced and entirely by her choice. Her company was aggressively pushing my wife to take on more responsibility and bigger roles.

With respect to Intel, I'd bet the vast majority of the top managers at Intel are engineers. What percentage of Engineering grads in any given year are white and asian men compared to women and non-asian minorities. Women make up just under 20% of engineering graduates (and less than 15% for electrical and computer science). Blacks comprise 3.5% of engineering grads. Hispanics 10%.
