I don't think a sample size of 30 implies anything. 2 years ago

there were 9 black head coaches, or 30%. And why would head coach representation in the NBA necessarily have to directly correlate with playing in the NBA. NBA players have elite athletic ability that separates them from the good college players. But you don't need elite athletic ability to be an NBA coach. You need to understand the game of basketball, how to motivate, how to build a winning culture, how to lead. I suspect those skills are more evenly distributed among the general population than elite athletic ability and thus you have a distribution of NBA coaches where black representation is *merely* 2-3x representation of the general population instead of 7x representation.

And in the NBA, an NBA player is a more desirable position than coach. Why does no one ask "where are all the white NBA players?" (which I also think is a silly question fwiw).
