What "seems pretty clear" (to you) is just your interpretation based on twisting Trump's words into something that makes sense to you because (I guess) it's what you want to hear. This one doesn't even quite fit the "seriously but not literally" bullshit excuse.

Before he made that comment, I was not a fan of Trump, but was open to the idea that maybe it would be worth the gamble because he could possibly shake up Washington so much that when the dust settled things might be better.

But when he OPENLY ADVOCATED FOR A FOREIGN, HOSTILE GOVERNMENT TO SPY ON A US CITIZEN, I instantly changed my mind and knew that I could never support him.

You can claim that your interpretation is correct and mine is incorrect, but mine is based on what he actually said, not what I think he probably really meant when he said it.
