He lied. Spicer lied. And then they kept doubling down on it. They claimed that photos were altered or mistimed, as in your quote, but we now know none of that is true. Fact check it. Spicer himself tried to change his statement to something far more difficult to disprove - that he meant viewers around the world. Which of course is as hard to prove as it is to disprove. And yeah, the MLK thing should never have seen the light of day - one Time reporter makes a dumb tweet and recants less than an hour later. The tweet correcting the mistake was no more or less prominent than the mistake. That was a guy on the Internet, not a published, reviewed, fact checked piece of journalism.

This whole episode that you quoted in its entirety for us signaled several things about what was to come with Trump - lots of alternative facts (lies), lots of focus on nonsense that really only effects Trump's ego, and lots of attempts to characterize the MSM as mostly publishing falsehoods, when in reality, the vast majority of actual reporting is reality, but since reality isn't the world Trump wants, his minions endlessly try to demonize those reporting on him.

The only spoon feeding in this country is the bullshit being shoveled into the eager, gaping mouths of Trumpies.
