Globalization isn't the grand design of liberal economists.
It just is. The information revolution IMO will be thought of as at least as transformative as the industrial revolution. I'm something of a self driving technology skeptic, but nonetheless, if I were a truck driver, I doubt I'd be encouraging my kids to pursue that as a career choice.
It's a sad tale to be sure - there are always losers in a general economic transformation. Societies don't turn on a dime, and people in declining industries suffer. Trying to turn the clock back to when those industries weren't in decline is the road to hell on good intentions - it extends the pain. [Post edited by hoolstoptheheels at 07/12/2018 7:47PM]
