More like society would be insane to try to stop globalization.
And to be sure, the Information Age does not equal globalization. More like a product of globalization. Globalization is a product of a shrinking world, which trades with each other, improves transportation to each other, and then communications with each other. A world trading with each other is not slaughtering each other.
It just is, and would probably take some incredibly unlikely doomsday scenario to undo (zombies oughta do it). There are of course all kinds of ways to manage it. So I have a very different view from you. I'll leave you with a book suggestion. "Enlightenment Now" by Steven Pinker. Premise is that humans are incredibly bad at judging their trajectory. The sky is always falling because of very natural biases we've evolved. It torpedoes dire prediction after dire prediction, very data heavy, including the dreaded wealth gap. And global warming. Not denying either, but providing perspective. And maintains that prosperity does much better than global governance in bringing about environmental concern in developing nations. Nobody will agree with everything in the book, but it provides a very useful angle that we tend not to see properly.
We're not powerless in the face of globalization. But we can't prevent progress. And shouldn't want to.
