I’m starting to think there’s a strong likelihood that the Dems snatch
defeat from the jaws of victory and hand four more years to Trump, UNLESS one of those two candidates can wrangle the party together and bring in moderates who don’t like Trump but also don’t want any part of Bernie’s “revolution.”
Initially it looked like Biden could do that, but he’s sinking like a rock. He still may be better positioned to win the general than the primary but he’s gone from a bad candidate to an utterly terrible one.
I just don’t see it with Mayor Pete for various reasons, even though I tend to align with him most closely on policy (too young, too green, and sad to say anything that even touches on agreeing with Rush Limbaugh, but I think being married to another man matters enough in the margins in states like PA, WI, VA, OH, and FL to sink him).
It may be a fool’s errand to be betting on an unknown like Bloomberg, but there’s a reason so many people are: it’s not that we think he’s great, it’s that we think the other candidates are THAT BAD.
I do hold out hope for Amy and see her as a dark horse candidate. She has overperformed but, again, mostly by default. She would be an also-ran in any other election year.
Yes, outlook is NOT very positive. We’re essentially betting on people just wanting to ditch Trump at this point. Which is rarely a winning formula.
