I don't know. $600 plus state benefits seems overly generous

to me for many positions. Let's say you get $800/week including state benefits. That's $20/hour for a 40 hour work week. If I'm a minimum wage worker, I'm likely staying home. Now I'm lazier than everyone else here, but...

I don't see how the math works except to demotivate those people.

It is a much different story for someone who was making $30/hour and has a family to feed.
