I agree with you that healthcare is more right than service honestly - it's

a view I've evolved a bit on, but to me what I just can't get over is the fact that there are adults who make demonstrably bad choices about their health that affect the overall cost -- of which everyone (including those making smart choices) is paying a pro rata share. Whether we're talking about smoking, excess alcohol, bad diet, lack of exercise, etc.... there ARE bad decisions that people can control. I don't want a child born with HIV or somebody that has the bad luck of getting brain cancer not to get treatment or to go bankrupt over it ... but I have very little sympathy for an adult that ate their way to diabetes and heart disease (in the sense of being willing to pay for it ... I obviously feel bad for anyone with any condition). When the bad consequences of your actions are entirely predictable, demanding others pay for it is bullshit.

This isn't really the case with other gov't programs ... it doesn't cost more to provide roads and bridges to different people for reasons entirely within their control.
