Of course you're right

but I could also argue that some people are born stupid, or deprived of education / information growing up, or lack places to find that affordable salad where they live.

as a society, we decide whether it is better for all to pick up the freight for those people (or even for people that should know better).

not saying we should or shouldn't, but man you're looking at this in a pretty narrow way.
