Yeah, I lump them in loosely with "providers" but that's one

of the groups blocking reform. The hospital has to take on a lot more admin with chaotic pricing schemes, which ups their admin operating cost to ~25% (think it's 10-15% in Canada), but the ability to charge more on the whole makes it well worth it for them. Maryland public hospitals have the standardized pricing, which is pretty radical and forward-thinking in the industry. They might be the only ones who've been able to implement that.

It really seems like the whole health care/medical industrial complex is against the necessary restructure. Different factions have different pet objections and they have internecine disagreements, but they're all united against the fundamental structural changes needed.
