I've never heard that myth
That isn't what we were trained. We were trained that the M16a2 was designed to fire at a higher velocity for accuracy and that one of the downsides was that they were more likely to injure, rather than immediately take out the target. We use that downside as an upside by occupyimg more of their force. It's a strategy thing.
M16, more accurate, higher velocity, smaller caliber, used to injure.
AK47, less accurate, more reliable, lower velocity, larger caliber, used to kill.
