Respectfully, Hool, I think that a bunch of hollow platitude that

Ignores and excuses the systemic problems in Congress. Congress is not representative of the country nor do they try to be -- a critical mass on the house side
Are just puppets for large donors in deliberately safe districts. On the senate side, there has always been a problem giving 400,000 Alaskans or North Dakotans the same influence as 36 million Californians but they at least have to win statewide elections.

You missed the mark entirely on the trump comment. I said it was a Hail Mary by many who just think the system is broken so why not toss a giant bomb at D.C. It was a really dumb move -- replacing a responsible president with a shady and irresponsible one is like cutting off your arm to cure your aching feet. The point wasn't to say all Trumps voters are idiots although many of course are.

It was to say Congress is the real issue and blowing up the WH was a really dumb cure.

And no, I don't think people being more civil in political discussIons is the issue at all. In fact, people like Trump for his LACK of civility, because people see nuanced political speak as a bunch of meaningless bullshit. I think people want better government but feel powerless to get it, and the reason for that is our leg branch is broken, and broken on purpose.
