But step one is owning your mistakes. Herring did. Northam didn't. Also, personally the KKK is a crossed line I struggle to see being able to come back from.

We do stupid things as kids. Reading up on prison reform and the age curve, I'm coming around to capping sentences at 20 years because normally people in their 40s don't really commit crimes. Most things are forgivable. A lot of people's drug use/DUIs are non issues (many years later - it is an issue if it's a current activity).

While most things are forgivable, the KKK and sexual assault are items that aren't really in the forgivable category to me.
