It was presented as a modern day lynching and high profile evidence of a

Trump-emboldened epidemic of racial and homophobic violence in the country. Then it was discovered to be a hoax. Is there an epidemic of such attacks motivated by the president, despite this one being fabricated? Is there not, and it's primarily hysteria egged on by opportunistic politicians and media? Maybe there doesn't need to be 7 threads about it here, but that's all fairly central to much of the conflict and division in the US right now and why people are talking about it.
