Assuming it's true, Smollet's actions are selfish, narcissistic,

Potentially dangerous to innocent people if these guys are walking around with bleach to pour on him, and incredibly damaging to the cause of preventing real gay bashing incidents. Not to mention causing the Chicago PD to waste resources that could be used on real crime.

I think he should go to jail if he did what he's accused of doing. His career being over goes without saying. If he hired these two guys to assault him, I can't imagine what he expected to come of it. He was nearly 100% guaranteed to be caught the moment he entered into the transaction.
