OK let's take gay rights. Since that unholy alliance was formed, we have
seen the legalization of gay marriage, gays serving openly in the military, and a pretty overwhelming acceptance of the LGBTQ community by the overall public. Other than the ridiculous IMO fact that sexual preference isn't a protected against discrimination on the Fed level for employment (just majority of states and Fed employees), and not being able to demand any private baker you want makes your wedding cake, there isn't that much left. Seems the "social conservatives" have been pretty ineffective to me, but we still hear the constant fear mongering about it by the left.
I can understand a revulsion to mixing church and state, but that seems to speak more to their issue with those in the church themselves. If they don't want to hear the preacher preach about voting for XYZ being a sin, why would they look to blame the GOP rather than the preacher?
