I am talking about a shift
You are expecting they should shift back now.
Why will people not shift back?
I am fully capable of shifting back, but coming from Hopewell, Virginia and the Kepone days, I feel strongly about our environment. Yeah, the EPA may need many regulations removed, but I see value in them at the federal level.
I respect organized religion. I am okay with a politician of organized religion having spiritual advisers. The group pictures of many religious spiritual advisers around the president of the United States praying for him is a little too much for me. Yes we are a country of freedom of religion. Just keep it real and believable.
Roe vs Wade. I am not one to be 100% confident it will always stand. Why was it important to hold up the Obama nominee for the Supreme court? I suspect Roe vs. Wade had something to do with it.
I agree the shift can go back, but each individual will be different, and the time frame for them is determined by trust. Some people feel strongly about separation of church and state even if they belong to an organized religion.
It is up to the Republican party to decide if they want to try to get their votes. They made a conservative religious voting block front and center, just like many will say the dreamers policy is for the democrats to get a block of voters. Having controversial religious leaders for some like Jerry Falwell and his son front and center within the GOP brings blame to the GOP. I am not sure why going to a black church with some rocking singing and dancing does not have the same impact. By the way, I might be bias, the handful of times I gone to an all black church it was fun.
The GOP will more likely be blamed for the change than the Democrats whether you like it or not. It may not be fair to you, but it is a reality IMHO.
I did not join this thread to discuss right or wrong in one's thoughts, but add to a thread on the shift of some voters over a few decades.
